Breast cancer survivors who have undergone breast cancer surgery may choose to undergo reconstruction, a combination of surgical techniques that result in the restoration of a missing or deformed breast to match the size, shape, and contour of the existing one. This can also be performed on patients who have undergone double mastectomies. Breast reconstruction can be performed using the patient’s own tissues (autogeneous) or with prosthetics (implants). Autogeneous reconstruction can result in a more natural look and feel.
